Tell us about your artistic journey. How did you discover your passion for art and music, and how did you develop your skills as a self-taught artist and songwriter?
I’ve always been drawn to all sorts of art since I was a child, but my true journey began just last year (2024). I was searching for originality and wanted to put all my skills to use, so I taught myself by experimenting, watching tutorials, and studying how to create both art and music. I still have a lot to improve, but I’m committed to growing and pushing my creative boundaries.
Your artist’s name is Sherbette. What’s the story behind that name, and how does it reflect your artistic identity?
It’s actually quite simple. I just wanted a name that gave off summer and feminine vibes for a small project I had at the time, so I came up with it in just five minutes. But I ended up liking it so much that I made it my artist name
Your bio mentions expressing individuality and aesthetics. Can you describe your artistic style and how it reflects your personal experiences and perspectives?
I have a wide range of interests in music genres, but I also have a clear aesthetic I want to express. Through my music, I aim to blend different elements that reflect my diverse tastes and invite listeners to experience the world from my point of view.
Each piece of your art and music holds a part of your story. Can you share a specific example of a piece and the story behind it?
All of my songs hold memories of real events. Some reflect happy moments, while others tell stories of struggle. The very first song I wrote, “How Thin I Wanna Be,” directly reflects my personal struggle with Korean beauty standards when I was in the field. Writing that song was a way to express the pressure I felt and the emotions that came with trying to fit into those expectations. It was both a vulnerable and empowering experience, and it was deeply touching to hear that many people felt seen while listening to my song.
What inspires your art and music? What are your primary sources of creative energy and motivation?
I’ve lived an amazing and chaotic life, and what drives me most is the desire to share my story with the world. I’ve come to understand my worth deeply, and I want that value to be recognized. Sharing my journey helps me connect with others and find meaning, while inspiring or comforting those who listen. Ultimately, my motivation comes from this need to be seen, understood, and connected with others.

As a self-taught artist, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced, and how have you overcome them? What resources or strategies have been most helpful?
One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced is self-doubt. Even now, I’m not sure where I stand compared to others. But I’m committed to continuing my growth and improvement, believing that persistence is key. With time and effort, those doubts will go away. I focus on consistent practice and staying connected with loving communities.
What are some of your proudest artistic achievements or moments?
I’m still early in my journey, so I don’t have a big achievement to point to just yet. But what I’m really proud of is the very first track I ever posted on my channel about a year ago. It only has 21 views so far, but to me, that track represents a huge milestone. It was my first real step into putting my art out there. That moment gave me the big part to keep going.
What are your goals for the future? Where do you see your art and music going in the next few years?
Honestly, my biggest goal right now is to get my work out there as much as possible so people can really understand the vibe and aesthetic I’m going for. I want my art and music to connect with others and show who I really am. At the same time, I want to have fun creating, experimenting, and exploring without pressure. Over the next few years, I hope to grow a heartwarming community and turn this passion into something that makes a real impact.
What advice would you give to aspiring artists who are also self-taught or are just starting their creative journey?
Don’t wait for permission or for the perfect moment. Start right where you are, with what you have, and let your curiosity guide you. Use that freedom as your strength. Care less about what others think, and let’s grow and improve together.
