Born from a shared love of K-POP, Nyxie’s journey was far from easy. Clashing personalities and creative disagreements stalled their debut for six months, leading to member departures and disbandment. By early 2024, what began as a reunion to film a farewell performance video reignited their spark—and an unexpected opportunity to debut emerged.
On February 18, 2024, Nyxie stepped onto the Hallyu Debut Stage, transforming years of struggle into triumph. Their story isn’t just about music; it’s a testament to sisterhood, resilience, and the power of second chances.
“We thought it was over… until it wasn’t.” — Nyxie
What does the name “Nyxie” symbolize for the group, and how does it reflect your identity now after overcoming so many challenges?
Nyxie symbolizes passion, mystery and women empowerment. After all, the name originated from the Goddess named Nyx—the Goddess of the Night feared by Zeus himself, and Nixies which are shape shifting water spirits in German folklore that are associated with music, dancing and the gift of prophecy. The name reflects our alluring and captivating presence as we perform on different stages. But more than that, after facing so many challenges together as a group, we always choose to seek positivity and light even in the darkest of circumstances—just like the Goddess Nyx despite her fearsome reputation.
You mentioned conflicts arose early on due to differing backgrounds and personalities. How did those struggles ultimately strengthen your bond as a group?
We’ve gotten to know not just each other’s strengths, but also our differences and personal struggles. During the earlier moments, especially when new members came in, we had a lot of open forums where we talked honestly about misunderstandings and issues.
Those talks helped us adjust to each other. Over time, we learned to turn those experiences into lessons. That’s really how our bond has been built.
We address things, we talk it out, we compromise, and we give space when someone needs it. Then we make up and keep going. Our relationship is constantly evolving, and that process has made us closer than ever.
What kept you motivated during the 6-month hiatus when debuting seemed impossible? Were there moments you considered giving up entirely?
During that period, we honestly lost all motivation. Things felt hopeless. Even though we were close as a group, communication and teamwork were still a struggle. On top of that, the leadership style at the time just didn’t work for everyone, so everything felt messy and uncertain. A few members tried to hold on, but it was hard to see where the group was headed.
Eventually, we went our separate ways. It wasn’t until we decided to meet up to film something that things slowly started to change. Just being together for practice again helped us rebuild mutual understanding.
That’s what reignited our drive and eventually led us to our debut stage, even if it wasn’t with the original lineup.
How did filming the January 2024 performance video reignite your passion for debuting together? What emotions surfaced during that process?
The funny thing is, we never actually got to film that day! But practicing together again was enough to bring the spark back. It reminded us why we love doing this in the first place. Our passion never really went away. It turns out that something that is pure is hard to lose.
One practice led to another, and before we knew it, we were up on stage. Now, after sharing so many performances, our bond is stronger than ever.
Debuting at the Hallyu Debut Stage was described as “bittersweet.” What made it feel that way, and how did you celebrate this milestone afterward?
It was bittersweet because the road to that stage was anything but easy. It was messy, uncertain, and full of ups and downs, but in the end, we actually did it. Ironically, that debut stage became the stepping stone for more opportunities, more performances, and more growth. It felt like all the hardships finally led somewhere.
How did the members who left or took breaks react to your eventual debut? Have they shared any messages of support?
They’ve been very supportive, even after everything that happened. We still bump into them at city hall when we’re practicing, and some of them even show up at events to cheer for us. That kind of support means a lot. It shows that, in some way, we’re still connected.
If you could go back in time, what advice would you give your pre-debut selves during the most uncertain moments?
We’d tell ourselves to never give up on the dream, no matter how hard or hopeless it feels. Turn the negativity into lessons, treat every challenge as a test, and remember that tests always have solutions.
Most importantly, we’d remind ourselves to prioritize the group’s goals and relationship. It really is “all for one and one for all.” Compromise and trust each other.
How has your perspective on being a group changed since your initial formation? What does “success” mean to Nyxie now?
We’ve learned that listening to each other and understanding our differences is just as important as practicing and performing. Adjusting and meeting halfway is key.
For us, success isn’t just about achievements but also being able to share the stage together, to have fun, and to know that no matter what, we’ve got each other’s backs as sisters.

Your story emphasizes sisterhood and resilience. How do you plan to weave these themes into your music or performances?
By always meeting halfway. By listening, by understanding, and by making sure that our bond shines through every stage we step on.
What kind of legacy do you hope Nyxie leaves for fans who relate to your journey of setbacks and revival?
To our friends, family, and the people who support us through it all, we hope our journey inspires you to keep going. No matter how many setbacks you face, remember that nothing is truly over unless you decide to stop.
How do you balance honoring your K-pop inspirations while carving out a unique sound and identity for Nyxie?
We let our inspirations remain just that. While we respect and learn from them, we make sure to put our own style and personality into every performance. That way, the spirit of the songs and our authenticity can coexist naturally.
To the fans who supported you even before debut: What message do you want to share with them now?
We are immensely grateful for the love and support. We’re just starting out, but knowing that you’re there cheering for us makes all the difference. We’ll do our best to grow and make you proud.
What’s a personal dream each member hopes to fulfill through Nyxie’s journey moving forward?
Being able to look back years from now and say, “We did it together,” because we may all have different personal dreams, but in the end it all comes down to that.
If Nyxie were a K-drama trope, which one would it be? (e.g., underdog story, reunion arc, etc.)
Probably a mix of “sisterhood” and “women empowerment.” We’re not just performers but we’re also friends and sisters who happened to find each other because of a shared love for performing. Over time, we’ve grown so close that we’ve started picking up each other’s traits. It really feels like we were meant to find one another.
What’s your go-to song or ritual to hype yourselves up before a performance?
We always remind each other to enjoy the stage no matter what. Before every performance, we gather, say a short prayer, and then do our ritual: forming a line or a circle and giving each other a few good taps on the back. It’s simple, but it works!
Which member would survive a zombie apocalypse, and why?
Honestly? Probably none of us! Knowing ourselves, we’d just freeze, scream, run around in panic, or just accept our fate together.
