Stepping into the spotlight with creativity, confidence, and connection, I.MET.U is the new global girl group capturing hearts with their unique blend of artistry and authenticity. Composed of Kelly, Lea, Yerin, and Cleo, these talented members embody the spirit of Creators turned Creatainers — artists who don’t just perform, but also shape their own stories.

In this exclusive written interview, the girls of I.MET.U share their thoughts on debuting as a group, what drives their passion for music, and how they hope to inspire fans across the world. From behind-the-scenes moments to a sneak peek of what’s next, this conversation reveals their dreams, personalities, and the bond that unites them as one.

I.MET.U was born through ‘Time Turner’. Looking back, what’s one unforgettable moment from that experience?

Looking back to Time Turner, which was already a year ago, we all agree that the most  memorable moment was when the winners were announced after the finals. We all distinctly remember the moment where all our names were called and we were hugging with joy. We were all super excited to become “I.MET.U”.

How does the name “I.MET.U,” which symbolizes connection, represent who you are as artists?

As we plan to travel to many different countries, we want to connect with fans all over the world and reach out to them to pass on positive energy to them.

What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned from your pre-debut journey so far?

The biggest lesson we’ve learnt through the pre-debut journey is that there is nothing we cannot do if we tried. The four of us came from very different backgrounds and in order to debut as one group, we put in hours of practice and spent lots of time together to become closer to each other.

How does it feel to finally share your pre-debut single after such a long wait?

FINALLY. We are so happy to finally share what we have been preparing for for the last year, and we really hope you guys like our new songs. We hope to be able to share our songs more often in the future.

What story or emotion do you want to share through your pre-debut single?

Our pre-debut song “Still” is about reminiscing the good memories of the past summer, and though this song, we wanted ours fans to be able to feel the warmth of the late autumn sunset.

Our next song “Velvet Trigger” is about being independent, strong, and brave. We want to pass on the messages of never looking back, facing various challenges with courage and trusting ourselves. We want to encourage everyone to be brave.

How were the members involved creatively in shaping the song or performance?

We wanted to participate in creating our pre-debut songs, so we participated in the
choreography and the lyrics of both our pre-debut songs. It was an amazing experience to participate in writing the lyrics of our songs.

It was challenging and definitely something i’d never done before but once the lyrics were confirmed and i heard our members singing the parts that i wrote, i don’t think i can describe the feelings i felt with words.

Participating directly in creating the choreography was definitely a challenging task. Comparedto creating Still, it took much more time and effort to choreograph Velvet Trigger.

We remember putting a lot of thought into maximizing each member’s strengths for their parts. Although it was tough, we think we achieved great results, and every time we perform the choreography together, it feels even more rewarding and special!

Can you share a behind-the-scenes moment that made this project special?

We practically spent most of our days together, even when we are not practicing or working. As four different individuals, we get along really well and thus make us super close and have better chemistry. We always spend time at Kelly’s house with the cats and just spend time talking about anything.

If you could describe your sound in three words, what would it be?

Unique, Confident, Charismatic.

You’ve described yourselves as evolving from Creators to Creatainers. What does that transformation mean to you?

From being Creators who creates their own content in their own ways and style, transforming to Creatainers. allowed us to reach out to our fans directly and off-line and also connect with them through a wider range of performances such as singing and dancing. Becoming creatainers. gave us more opportunities to explore different areas.

How does being Creatainers. influence your approach to music and fan interaction?

Being creatainers allows us to make the most of what we do best — creating short-form videos and producing engaging content — as we reach out to our fans and share our music with a wider audience. Since content creation is one of our strengths, it was easier for us to develop challenge videos (to be released soon) and communicate with our fans across multiple platforms.

What kind of creative freedom do you hope to explore as Creatainers in the future?

We hope to go from participating in creating our songs to actually making and producing our own songs. We also want to make a wide range of challenges with our songs so many of our fans can participate and connect with us.

Do you think this dual role sets I.MET.U apart from other new-gen girl groups?

I think the dual role gives us the ability to build our own image and furthermore when it comes to creating our songs, we have more flexibility to participate in the producing process.

What message do you want to give WeU. with your pre-debut release?

We want to show WeU. that we’re strong, confident, and ready to face anything. This pre- debut single is about not giving up and moving forward, and we hope it inspires everyone to believe in themselves too.

How do you want to inspire your fans, WeU, through this concept?

We want to pass on encouraging message to our fans and through seeing us, we hope that they can be inspired by the work we do.

How do you feel about the growing global attention, especially from Indonesia and overseas fans?

It’s really amazing and humbling. We feel so grateful for all the love and support from fans in Indonesia and all over the world. Their support motivates us to work even harder and show them our best.

If you could collaborate with any artist as Creatainers, who would it be?

We would love to have the opportunity to collaborate with any artists in the future, but in particular, we would love to collaborate with Alan Walker and perform together.

What does I.MET.U ultimately want to be remembered for in K-pop?

We are so honored and grateful to be a part of the K-pop industry, and whilst participating, we ultimately want to give off positive vibes and also influence people to be themselves and be brave!

Their pre-debut single “Velvet Trigger” drops this November 3 at 6:00 pm KST, serving a perfect mix of sweetness, style, and confidence you won’t forget!
