Welcome, Yomi and Rai!  The J-Pop world is shining brighter thanks to this talented duo.  Their music is as captivating as the moon itself, and tonight, we’ll discover what makes them so special.

What are your musical influences, both Japanese and international?

Our musical inspirations are diverse. Rai is influenced by Seventeen’s explosive performances and self-produced music, the innovative world of Japanese Vocaloids, and Sarah Geronimo’s powerful vocals and stage presence. Yomi finds inspiration in Pixie’s vibrant charm, Taylor Swift’s storytelling prowess, and Vaundy’s genre-blending music. These artists have shaped their musical journeys, influencing the music they like and listen to, each contributing diverse elements to their evolving artistry.

Which song cover has been the most challenging to perform, and why? What did you learn from that experience?Conversely, which cover has been the most rewarding or fun to perform? What made it so special?

The most challenging to perform is one of our cover songs, Oidemase by Festive. The choreography consists of many jumps, from start to finish. Performing this, we give our all, so during and after the song, we’re out of breath. The choreography has continuous jumps and the energy should be consistent. We learned the importance of building stamina and managing breath control, as well as being able to give everyone smiles and our best performance despite being exhausted. The most rewarding would also have to be Oidemase, as it is the very first J-Pop song we learned, and is the song we got known for. It’s special because we put a lot of effort into learning the dances, even incorporating our own steps, and as previously mentioned, the struggle of being breathless after the song, yet it paid off.

Your stage presence is important. How do you adapt your performance style to match the mood and style of different song covers?

The branding of Mirai is cheerful and vibrant, so we typically choose songs from that category. However, if we were to perform a song with a completely different vibe, we would take the challenge.

What do you think is the key to building a strong and lasting relationship with your fans?

The key is being genuine. Being genuine to our fans fosters trust and deepens our connection with them and makes it meaningful. Being genuine gives value to a person and makes them feel appreciated, and we do appreciate them, because if it weren’t for them, we wouldn’t be where we are now.

Have you noticed any unique ways your fans express their support or appreciation? (e.g., specific fan chants, gifts, social media interactions)

They give us gifts, and each gift is unique. One fan created a diorama of Mirai performing on stage from scratch, and it lights up. Another unique gift is when a fan gave us photos of ourselves in the format of a pokemon card, and it’s so cute! Sometimes, they give us a box of doughnuts or a bouquet of flowers or crocheted items.

Lastly, What advice would you give to other J-Pop artists considering performing or releasing their music

Don’t rush things, trust the process, and take one step at a time. The journey definitely has obstacles, but that’s normal. To achieve what you dream of, you have to work hard for it. But the most important of all, enjoy. Enjoy what you do, and enjoy the experience.
