The Southeast Asian music scene welcomes an exciting new act as MCMD, a rising female duo from Malaysia, officially makes their debut with their first single, “Modus.”
The duo consists of two talented artists from Sabah, Michelle Cheng (MC) and Melinda Dadew (MD). Michelle is widely recognized for her strong presence on TikTok, where she has built a substantial following, while Melinda brings a distinctive vocal strength and stage experience, including her run as a quarterfinalist on Astro’s reality competition “Raise The Stars.”
Formed under Chaoss Entertainment, MCMD represents the label’s latest effort to develop fresh talent capable of breaking into the regional market. The label played a key role in shaping the duo’s identity and brought them to Jakarta, Indonesia, to record their debut single, in collaboration with Ruang Dimensi Records for promotions in Indonesia.
“Modus” was written by Indonesian composers Rizky Maulana and Rarin, blending modern musical elements with cross-cultural influences—making it highly relatable to both Malaysian and Indonesian audiences.
The music video for “Modus” was filmed over two days across various locations in Jakarta, offering MCMD valuable experience in building chemistry while strengthening their artistic identity.
“‘Modus’ is our first step. We want people to get to know who MCMD is and the kind of music we represent. This is a very meaningful beginning for us,” shared Michelle Cheng.
“Recording and filming in Jakarta came with its challenges, but it was an incredibly valuable experience. We hope ‘Modus’ will be well received and make an impact on listeners,” added Melinda Dadew.
According to Chaoss Entertainment, the formation of MCMD is part of a long-term vision to develop artists who are not only digitally relevant but also possess strong commercial value and a distinct international identity.
With a compelling mix of charisma, talent, and a solid strategy, MCMD is poised to emerge as one of the most promising new names in the regional music industry.
“Modus” will be available on all digital streaming platforms, with the official music video premiering on Chaoss Entertainment’s YouTube channel starting May 1, 2026.
