Marking the anniversary of her debut EP Hiraya Manawari, artist and environmental advocate Jerms deepens her voice and purpose with the release of the “Party Gubat” music video on May 11. Created in partnership with Forest Foundation Philippines and directed by Paolo Moreno of Antevasin Digital, the release will be followed by a surprise “Party Gubat Remix” by producer Mesklun on May 22.

Following the recent reunion of her band The Ransom Collective, Jerms continues to carve her path as a solo artist grounded in storytelling, community, and purpose. Her work bridges music and advocacy, creating not just art, but meaningful and lasting impact.

Beyond the stage, Jerms has long been dedicated to environmental work—supporting reforestation efforts, preserving the local ecosystems with the Indigenous communities to restore land and resist destructive practices.

With “Party Gubat,” she brings this mission into full expression. In collaboration with Paolo Moreno and the team at Antevasin Digital—known for crafting socially driven narratives—and in partnership with Forest Foundation Philippines, the project weaves together music and conservation, amplifying the call to protect Philippine forests and uplift forest-dependent communities.

“Party Gubat is a celebration, but also a call,” shares Jerms. “It’s about remembering our connection to the land, to the forests and the people that hold us, heal us, and give us life. Tulad ng sabi ni Nanay Erlinda sa akin, ang reyna at tagapag-alaga ng kagubatan ng Tingtingan: ‘Ang tao at ang kalikasan ay iisa lamang. Kaya’t kailangan natin itong mahalin at protektahan, dahil ito ang buhay natin.’ This project is my offering, not just as an artist, but as someone who has witnessed the beauty and fragility of our ecosystems. I hope it moves people to feel, to reconnect, and to act.”

More than a song, “Party Gubat” is an anthem—a vibrant call to gather, celebrate, and take action for the environment. Born from the deep connection between people and nature, it pulses with both urgency and joy.

Its lyrics echo the harmony of earth, sea, and sky, reflecting the interconnectedness of all life. Lines such as “Ikaw ang lupa at ako ang dagat” and the powerful refrain “Humiyaw, sumigaw, lumaya’t bumitaw” ignite a collective awakening—urging listeners to move beyond apathy and into action.

“From the start, we didn’t want to tell this story in a conventional way,” says director Paolo Moreno. “By merging music and documentary, it becomes something you feel, not just understand. Something that stays with you, something you want to share.”

“Because it’s not just about the forest—it’s about remembering that we’re part of it. And maybe that feeling is what moves people to act.”

Through this collaboration with Forest Foundation Philippines“Party Gubat” transforms conservation into a cultural movement—reminding us that together, we can nurture and protect our forests for generations to come.

As the music video comes to life, Jerms invites everyone to take part in the movement—by learning more about local conservation efforts, supporting organizations like Forest Foundation Philippines, and finding their own way to reconnect with and care for the natural world. Whether through community action, storytelling, or simply spending time in nature, every act of care becomes part of the collective rhythm of “Party Gubat.”

The “Party Gubat” music video premieres online on May 11, followed by the release of the “Party Gubat Remix” by Mesklun on May 22.
