Rising with a bold fusion of J-pop, Brit-pop, and hyper-pop energy, EZ-TORA is a fresh global girl group redefining what modern pop can sound like. Formed by members hailing from England and Japan, the group brings together different cultures, backgrounds, and musical influences — creating a sound that’s both vibrant and unmistakably their own.
With their dynamic personalities, genre-blending style, and a growing fanbase drawn to their originality, EZ-TORA is quickly carving out their space in the international music scene. In this exclusive written interview, the members open up about their roots, their creative vision, and what it truly means to build a global identity in today’s music landscape.
EZ-TORA has such a unique name — what’s the meaning behind it, and how does it represent your group’s concept?
In the world of EZ-TORA we have a motif of boys as dogs and girls as cats, kind of a play on men are from mars and women jupiter! Us as ez – tora however are more than domesticated pets, but instead tigers (toras) ready to take on any fight and express ourselves with reckless abandon
From passive pets to wild cats….
And easy tigers an English phrase…. but we’re not tame + Tora means tiger in Japanese!
How did each of you come together as EZ-TORA? Were you formed through auditions, creative collaboration, or something more organic?
We’ve been plucked from the universe for our skills to make the worlds best super group!
Your tagline “Stay Wild, Kitty Kats” has a fierce energy. What inspired that theme or spirit?
Only the wildest cats make our pride and these Tigers are wild!
We’ve just started and we LOVE our fans… they make absolutely fantastic fan art and edits, and we genuinely cannot believe how lucky we are to already have such a supportive community behind us.
Many describe EZ-TORA as a global act — what does “global” mean to you in the way you make or present music?
Mila and I are from England. I’m personally half Ghanaian and half Australian.
Chill and I are from Japan, so as a group we’re truly global — we all come from different parts of the world!”
We feel there’s a real synergy between Japanese and English music, with there being a real focus on gritty rawness and genuine connection – we both love pushing the boundaries. We both focus on authenticity over perfection + fan relationship instead of fame much like the modern jpop idol or the british rock bands of a time passed.
It does means that there’s a lot of travel when we all meet to make music!
I couldn’t believe how cool it was going to London! So much amazing music has been made there and walking on the abbey road crossing was a really special moment for me.
And when we write songs we use our languages and slang, how we use it in our everyday life!

Your debut single comes out this Friday, November 14 — how are you all feeling as the release date approaches?
I’m so excited that everyone has received our debut single so well, we can’t wait to release more to the world!!
I’m nervous but know people will rock out to it! I can’t wait.
What’s the title of your debut single, and what story or emotion does it tell?
Same same seems like a love song on the surface, but if you dig deeper you’ll find it’s moreso an exploration of self – love and coming to the realisation that you’re the prize, and instead of waiting and hoping for a guy to be different, you should instead be radically yourself and let the right guy come!
He might the SAME SAME and you need someone different
Maybe you just wanna pretend it’s real with him and maybe that’s ok.
But at end the end we all realise that we’re the prize… we don’t need him!
What message do you want listeners to take away from your debut track?
That its ok to have your heart broken sometimes, but you should always remember that the most important thing you can do is get over the idea that these feelings should all be for a guy! Forget him, how are we gonna be different, and even cooler than before?
Stay true, remember your self worth and your values, he’s just a stinky boy!
Were there any challenges or surprises during the recording or production of your first single?
How cool the contrast in all our voices are! In the verses this really stood out for me because we have one line each.
We embrace all of our difference in tones and pronunciations even if it’s uncomfortable or unfamiliar for the average listener – it reflects the disruption we’re tryna bring to the music industry by forcing you sonically to pay attention and experience something new, we’re girl group disrupters
And if you want us you gotta be different
But also how beautiful all our voices slotted together on the chorus
Who worked with you on this song — any notable producers, lyricists, or choreographers involved?
Beau Blaise is our producer and creative director. He guides us on all things Tora and always collaborates with us .
We helped him with the Japanese lyrics translation though!
And we do all our own choreography
The visuals for EZ-TORA are striking — can you tell us about the concept or aesthetic for the debut music video?
Firstly in our video, as it’s our introduction we wanted to establish each of our members aesthetics so you know each of us
- I’m NatzUkiNeptůne, a London girl who loves Japan and a samurai assassin badass
- I’m JüpitorKat a robo-cyber future girl
- I’m MærzKāt a kawaii crazy rock chick
- And I’m Sakura Saturn, a cute countryside gal who loves DJing
We as the Toras realise this, realise he’s just another Grey Man clone and battle him cos we know our worth…
We stand out from the crowd and we need someone different!
Was there a specific moment during the making of the song when you realized, “This is it — this will be our debut”?
It’s bold, it’s immediate, it’s us! We’re disrupters and it encompasses everything we are. We’re different.
What emotions do you hope fans (the “Kitty Kats”) feel the first time they hear the song?
Excitement, we’ve already had so much love from the Kitty Kats from teasing on socials! I just hope this feeling keeps growing..
Curiosity, I hope it makes people wonder whats coming next. All of our songs are a story and we’re making a world with lore and characters that should feel more alive and vibrant as we release more songs!
How would you describe EZ-TORA’s overall sound to someone who hasn’t heard you yet?
We’re always a fusion of our two cultures, of Japan and the UK.
We’re mixing brit pop and J pop, stylistically in fashion and in our musical style. Our first two releases will do it in a more classic brit pop way but man we’re versatile… Watch out our future releases will mix elements of British rap and garage with more modern J-pop bubble gummy sounds.
We can’t wait to show you what we’ve got!
After this debut single, what’s next? Should fans expect an EP, tour, or special performances soon?
World domination babes!
We’re building up to a release of our debut EP follows the story we’re introducing in SAME SAME…. We’re buzzing for you to watch this story unfold
And we’re coming to London in January, I can’t wait to see Mila and Nya again. And we’re gonna do a London show!
Any Kitty Kats around there should come say hey
Looking ahead, what’s the ultimate dream or message EZ-TORA hopes to share with the world?
There’s beauty in imperfection and there’s community in our difference – during a time of derision we hope to create a world that radically questions the status quo and shows you that the ways in which we differ are the ways in which our humanity shines brightest.
